#Clubhouse App for Dog Owners?

Clubhouse App Overview:

Clubhouse is a new type of social product based on voice. It allows people everywhere to talk, tell stories, develop ideas, and meet interesting new people around the world.

It launched in the spring of 2020 with its founders Paul Davison and Rohan Seth, which studied engineering at Stanford University. Today, Clubhouse App has over 6,00,000 users, and is possibly valued well above $100 million. Early adopters love the product and it has been featured in publications like The New York Times, Forbes, The Telegraph, TechCrunch, The Information, CNBC, and WIRED — as well as a ton of blog posts.

“Silicon Valley is going crazy for Clubhouse, a social media app with 1,500 users that’s already worth $100 million” – wrote CNBC in May 2020.”

As of right now, the app is still in private beta and by invite-only, which means that an existing Clubhouse member has to on-board you. Whoever invites you will be pinned to you for life, so make sure you’re comfortable with that attachment when you prepare to send that invite.

Once on the platform, users will initially get one or two invites they can share with people who have iOS - That’s right, it’s only available to iOS users for now. So, sorry Android fam…

The more engaged you are with the app and contribute to the community (think like the Reddit App model), the more invites are added to your account and your ability to host Clubs opens.

The main feed or “hallway” needs a little work. It’s also an infinite scroll that lists live chat rooms categorized according to your areas of interest . You can join open virtual rooms and listen to others have free-flowing conversations— you raise your hand to be invited up to speak, or get tapped by those already speaking to more actively participate or you can choose to 'leave quietly’, continue to wonder the halls or check back in later. Remember, the types of people you follow will contribute to the curation of your “hallway experience,” so it’s best to think about that in advance.

Some of the topics covered in the app: Health, wellness, life, faith, arts, culture, sports, entertainment, world affairs, knowledge, tech products, languages, places, identity, startup hustle, sales events, finance and cryptocurrency, live performances, etc.

I will link to a few other awesome blog posts by Sohini Mitter and Nancy Hassel, American Pet Professionals, if you want an in-depth walkthrough of some of the other key features of Clubhouse. However, I think the place where dog owners can best leverage the expertise on this platform is with Clubs and Rooms.

Leveraging Clubs and Rooms

You can hit the ‘explore’ icon on the homepage to find people and clubs to follow. Clubhouse alerts you whenever a session of your interest is about to go live and you can track upcoming rooms through the calendar icon on the homepage.

When you enter a room, the audio switches on and you can hear people speaking — it’s like walking into a conference room where a panel or Q&A is happening. The room’s creator or moderators can decide who gets to speak.

“All Things Dogs” and “Dog Lovers” Clubs are a few of the dog training resources that I have personally checked; feel free to check them out too as you begin to explore for yourself.

Hassle-free Features

Nobody has to worry about how they look and the terms of use make it so you cannot record the conversations without every participant’s permission. Specifically, the decision to record any room has to be made before you start the room so the appropriate notices are added for people.

This is your chance, Yes-even you introverts, to ask questions, engage with other members, and come away with key insights and advice for pet parents.

“Essentially, the app is a combination of a podcast network, a virtual event space, and a live chat room, but with the energy, immediacy, and interactivity of an offline meeting.” - Wrote Sohini Mitter

Plus, you can gain a ton of value while multitasking or going about your day-to-day routine.

The Future of Clubhouse

So, overall, as a tech tool for dog owners, the app provides an outlet for fresh, engaging, and informative content, that’s unlike other social media platforms. The focus is only the conversation value, not the production which is helping usher in the era of voice-based social networks with audio-only chat that we may see replicated across other platforms (Like Twitter Spaces).

I see it as disrupter to the mundane interactive content landscape. And another platform for you to leverage in your dog training journey.

Subscribe and Connect With Me on Clubhouse App

While Clubhouse App is still in its private beta, you may not be able to join the dingle days community on the app. You can still download the app and reserve a Username today. But once the app opens up to the public, I think it will be a great new place to engage and connect with you and pet parents on tips, strategies, and technologies that better enable our dogs to share in our daily lives.

Note. Over the next few months, Clubhouse founders plan to launch the first tests to allow creators to get paid directly—through features like tipping, tickets or subscriptions. They also plan on using a portion of their new funding round to roll out a Creator Grant Program to support emerging Clubhouse creators.
